Chinese fortune cookies.

I bought a box of fortune cookies (10 cookies in total) from the local supermarket. I thought all the cookies were the same just the bit of paper chosen at random. I took the box to my parents, along with my Chinese meal treat. I shared them to the family and the proverbs came out. One by one the proverbs hit me:

Persistence can change failure into extraordinary achievement.

Colour’s fade, temples crumble, empires fall but wise words remain.

An individual step in character training is to put responsibility on the individual.

Love truth, but pardon error.

All people who have achieved great things have been great dreamers.

There never was a great soul that did not have some divine inspiration.

Sometimes when you think it’s the end, it’s really a new beginning.

Mum nicked one so I probably won’t be seeing it again which means I’m left with one. I vowed to everyone that I won’t open it till my birthday.

My birthday cookie:

There is nothing noble about being superior to some other person. the true nobility is in being superior to your previous self.
