Transit of Venus 2012

The one thing I wanted to see in my lifetime spoiled by the traditional Great British bank holiday weather, rain and cloudy. However, thanks to the internet I manage to get to see in Australia but a recording though. The main reason I want to see and record the event, so I can show and talk about it for my planet and science talk to the children.

It is a rare event that happens once (or if we are lucky twice) a century. The reason this is because Venus orbit is slightly slanted, shown in the diagram above.

If you want to see the next one you will have to wait over a century for the next one.
